After-hours palliative support
Most palliative care services provide clients and carers with an after-hours telephone number (via their local hospital) if an unexpected medical issue were to arise.
If you are a client or carer who needs to utilise the after-hours telephone service please identify yourself as a palliative care client to the person you are speaking with. Your call will most probably be answered by the local hospital after-hours manager.
If your palliative care team has provided you with a “symptom management plan”, please have this on-hand and be sure to mention it to the attending nurse.
Please do not hesitate to speak with your palliative care nurse about any support you anticipate you might require after-hours.
